January 1, 2018 brought an entire new industry to San Diego’s doorstep: legalized cannabis. And, considering marijuana and food have been bedfellows since the beginning of time (munchies, anyone?), it’s no surprise that San Diego’s chefs and epicureans are eager to get in the game, and have done so mainly by launching dinners that pair cannabis consumption with high-end dishes.
The researchers looked at cannabis therapy in elderly patients seeking to alleviate cancer symptoms, Parkinson’s disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
He said medical marijuana should be treated as a medicine that requires extensive testing to make sure it is safe and free of pesticides, heavy metals, mold and fungus.
Although the program isn’t operating yet, some patients have been issued cards that will allow them to participate.
“These practical considerations do not require D-Day logistics,” Brown wrote. “The focus should be not just on the wording of the condition … but on developing an informational and supervisory system that ensures the offender knows what they must do and how to go about it with the advice and oversight of their parole officer and health liaison.”
Medically refractory epilepsy continues to be a challenge worldwide, and despite an increasing number of medical therapies, approximately 1 in 3 patients continues to have seizures. Cannabidiol (CBD), one of many constituents of the Cannabis sativa or marijuana plant, has received renewed interest in the treatment of epilepsy. The most common reported side effect of CBD was sedation in less than 4% of patients, all of whom were also taking clobazam. Increased alertness and improved verbal interactions were reported in 14% of patients in the CBD group and 8% of patients in the CBD and clobazam group. Benefits were more marked in the CBD alone group, in contrast to the CBD and clobazam group.
“With the current system, you’re very limited to the strains of product that are available,” said Hyman, who has been hired by a law firm specializing in medical marijuana cases. “Some patients can’t even get their medicine.”
State Sen. Jeff Steinborn and Rep. Joanne Ferrary, both Democrats from Las Cruces, held a news conference at the Roundhouse to bring attention to companion memorials they are sponsoring, calling on Department of Health Secretary Lynn Gallagher to allow people with opioid dependence to obtain medical marijuana to help them break the chains of their addiction.
Medicinal cannabis use is topical in the media in Ireland. A recent Health Products Regulatory Authority review, however, has recommended against its use for patients with chronic pain. This is despite evidence for its effectiveness in this patient’s cohort and the inadequate pain management of these patients. The study highlights the attitudes of chronic pain patients in Ireland towards medicinal cannabis. It shows their desire to have medical cannabis legalised for chronic pain and that they view it as a reasonable pain management option.

Who can transport cannabis in California, and what kind of license do they need?
The statutes require anyone transporting cannabis goods to have a distributor license from the bureau. [The state] currently is issuing temporary licenses. Counties and cities all have their own regulations.
