January 1, 2018 brought an entire new industry to San Diego’s doorstep: legalized cannabis. And, considering marijuana and food have been bedfellows since the beginning of time (munchies, anyone?), it’s no surprise that San Diego’s chefs and epicureans are eager to get in the game, and have done so mainly by launching dinners that pair cannabis consumption with high-end dishes.
The researchers looked at cannabis therapy in elderly patients seeking to alleviate cancer symptoms, Parkinson’s disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
He said medical marijuana should be treated as a medicine that requires extensive testing to make sure it is safe and free of pesticides, heavy metals, mold and fungus.
Although the program isn’t operating yet, some patients have been issued cards that will allow them to participate.
“These practical considerations do not require D-Day logistics,” Brown wrote. “The focus should be not just on the wording of the condition … but on developing an informational and supervisory system that ensures the offender knows what they must do and how to go about it with the advice and oversight of their parole officer and health liaison.”
“With the current system, you’re very limited to the strains of product that are available,” said Hyman, who has been hired by a law firm specializing in medical marijuana cases. “Some patients can’t even get their medicine.”
