Professor Lee,
My plants have purple streaks on the branches and the leaf stems. Otherwise the plants are growing well and seam happy. Is this the tell tale sign of some deficiency or disease? I’ve been fertilizing my plants with a water soluble fertilizer that has all major and micro nutrients listed. I only fertilize with a mild dose once a week. Should I fertilize more often? What about disease do they have pot herpes or something?
Please Help,
Purple Nurple.
Purple Nurple,
A lot of my plants did the purple streak thing. The first time I saw it I was a bit freaked, so I understand your concern. I don’t think you have a deficiency or disease on your hands. If you did your plants would show more symptoms like pale yellowing leaves, stunted growth, spotty chlorosis or necrosis on the leaves, woody stems, etc. As a matter of fact quite a few strains will naturally develop purple twinges, especially under low temperature conditions. You said that your plants are otherwise doing well, and you don’t seem to be overdoing it on the fertilizer. If you start to notice really dark leaf color and leaf tip/edge burn try toning down the dosage even more. Other than that relax smoke a joint and keep doing what you’re doing.
It’s Gonna Be Okay.
Professor Lee.
