Cannabis and other plant compounds bind well to fats, making ice cream an excellent choice for infusing.
A paper published in PubMed, a medical publishing platform in the US, states that cannabinoids are indeed fat soluble. “This was attributed to the fact that therapeutically-active cannabinoids are lipid-soluble and therefore easily extracted from cannabis upon preparation with dietary fats.”This excellent binding can also come with a stronger level of activated tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), so partakers beware. The usual cautionary dosing applies, start low, and go slow when ingesting any activated THC. You are going for a therapeutic dose, not the surprise of an uncomfortable head high.Fieri grew up just south of Oregon in Humboldt County at the top of Northern California in Ferndale’s idyllic and historic town. Part of the three counties of Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino make up the infamous Emerald Triangle, where some of the best cannabis in the world is grown, making the celebrity chef no stranger to cannabis
The ice cream will be produced for market in Framingham, Massachusetts, by Plant Jam, a cannabis edibles company founded by David Yusefzadeh. In an article by the Indian New England News, Belushi said, “I’ve met many cannabis chefs, but David’s approach is the truest because he uses the full plant and farm-to-table ingredients. I get a chill when I eat it. And then, I become chill. It’s on the same mission as the farm – boutique farm-to-table, organic, special.”Orange Whip was created in memory of John Candy from The Blue Brothers movie. It’s reminiscent of the old-school ice cream creamsicle, made with freshly squeezed oranges, zest, and Tanzanian vanilla beans. The line initially launched with two flavors, Orange Whip and Java Chip.Java Chip was recreated on Belushi’s Farm by Chef Fieri, who also filmed an episode for his traveling show for the Food Network, Guy’s All American Road Trip. It has coffee flavors and house-made chocolate chips (recipe below). The new line can be found in cannabis retail shops throughout Massachusetts, under Belushi’s Farm brand, in association with Plant Jam.
