Giving local residents an opportunity to express their views on how medicinal cannabis could be made available
People in the Isle of Man could be allowed to buy medicinal cannabis over the counter at their local pharmacy, according to one idea put forward in a public consultation.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is consulting on the medicinal use of cannabis.
Medicinal cannabis is cannabis consumed with the objective of reducing the symptoms of a medical condition.
On 1 November 2018, the scheduling of cannabis based medicinal products under the Misuse of Drugs Legislation changed. As a result of the application of earlier legislation in the Isle of Man, the Statutory Instrument that made this change in England, Wales and Scotland also applies in the Isle of Man.
