CBD is one of the 100 compounds that is found in the cannabis plant
Do you know what is CBD? Have you ever heard about it?
These are some of the questions that will arise in your mind when you hear about CBD. Generally speaking, CBD is a chemical compound that is extracted from the cannabis plant. It is a naturally occurring substance that is used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation.
But can it get you high? Well, the answer to this question is “no.” That is because CBD is naturally non-psychoactive. This means that it will make you feel more relaxed and calm which some people associate with being “high.”
CBD Vs THC
Some people who are considering using CBD vape juice to benefit from their positive influences on health are worried about the possibility of getting high.
CBD is one of the 100 compounds that is found in the cannabis plant. It positively impacts stress and mood as well as muscle soreness, provides sleep support, enhances skin health and even calms down your pet.
On the other hand, THC is another compound in the cannabis plant. While it has psychotropic properties and is associated with feelings of sedation, anxiety, elation, relaxation and sometimes hallucinations, and delusions.
The fact that THC and CBD are closely linked leads people to question “can CBD get you high?” Additionally, THC products are illegal in most places, so, sometimes individuals get confused CBD with THC which can cause worry.
Hemp Vs Marijuana
In order to understand why you won’t get high from CBD, you need to know that CBD can be made from both hemp and marijuana.
However, CBD is totally legal when extracted from industrial hemp which is the source of CBD for all the products such as CBD vape juice. You will only get negligible levels of THC because hemp is grown and used for its sturdy and low levels of THC. This will prevent you from getting high while consuming these products.
Although, CBD can also be found in marijuana which may or may not be legal in your state or country. So, if you decide to get products from marijuana then you may get varying levels of THC and CBD. If you are concerned about getting high then you may want to avoid products made from marijuana unless you can confirm the quantities of CBD and THC.
So, can you get high with CBD? The answer is no. The reason behind this is that the process behind extracting CBD oil is unlikely to produce oil with high levels of THC and CBD on its own cannot make you high.
How CBD Oil is Made?
Hemp plants from which CBD oil is extracted are bred to contain the highest concentrations of CBD and lowest concentrations of THC. Growers take advantage of the fact that hemp is naturally high in CBD and breed the plants to enhance this factor.
On the other hand, marijuana contains about 5-10% THC and hemp only contains around a tenth of it; 0.5-1%. THC is found concentrated in the buds of the cannabis plant but hemp is bred to grow without these THC containing buds. Its height also proves useful as hemp stalks are used when creating the oil.
CBD oil is extracted by using three methods:
- By pushing CO2 through the plant at high pressures
- By using ethanol
- Or by using a carrier oil
All these methods rely on extracting CBD from the hemp plant in a close-to-pure form with a zero to a negligible trace of THC.
