From city to city, state to state, the Mendo Dope Band is planting seeds world wide to help over grow the system.
Straight out of Northern California, the Mendo Dope Band is on the front line of cannabis culture music.
With over 10 albums released so far, this group of musicians has made a massive impact in the Cannabis industry all around the globe. Mendo Dope was formed by brothers Old E and Bleezy back in 2007 when they released their first underground album NOYB BOYZ with Reek Daddy.
After years of building independently and learning from OG ganja farmers Mendo Dope is now recognized as one of the leading underground Cannabis brands.
In 2016 the Mendo Boys put together an all-star line up of seasoned musicians to form the official Mendo Dope Band. Old E is the voice of this Cannabis Culture music group bringing deep lyrical content and high energy to the microphone. While Bleezy is the producer and keyboard player creating the funky beats and catchy rhythms that keep you rocking. Trevor Lyon is the Bass player and vocalist in the group, with over 20 years of experience he brings a smooth solid reggae sound to the band. Johnny Fingaz is on the electric guitar shredding the strings and screaming through the speakers, (also bringing over 20 years of experience to he group, this seasoned veteran brings nothing but heat). Mr Blap is the dummer and back up vocalist bringing high energy everywhere they go; from producing to recording, Mr Blap has been in the game making music for over a decade. When this group of musicians came together history was in the making.
This Cannabis Culture band has exploded onto the scene with their original sound and unique style. Teaming up to record the first “Live In the Garden” album in the world these musicians are breaking the surface with a brand new sound. The Mendo Dope Band brings you behind the scenes into the culture of Cannabis – sharing stories from the ganja farmer’s perspective and sometimes even the weed itself. Songs like “Ganja’s Journey” from the “Planters Of The Trees” album are examples of how deeply rooted into the culture these boys really are. Growing up surrounded by farmers and Weed Nerds, Mendo Dope lives and breaths the culture. What started out as just a couple young kids rapping in the backyard at their moms house has turned into a world wide movement representing Cannabis. The Mendo Dope Band has been on the road spreading the message coast to coast through their songs and online grow videos helping small farmers all over the world.
Even after being raided by the local Mendocino County Sheriff and CAMP agents they continued to record music and release videos on growing. Not only is their music fun to listen to but it is also educational teaching you about culture and cultivation techniques.
Growing up smoking and trimming weed they were heavily inspired by artists like Cypress Hill who gave us classics like “Hits From the Bong” and “Dr Greenthumb”. “We had the music we could smoke to but we felt like people needed music to grow to now”-Old E. Born in the hills of Mendocino County Old E and Bleezy were raised in a Cannabis farming community. But it really wasn’t till later in their career that they went all the way in about speaking for the farmers and the Cannabis Culture. In the early days of their recording growing wasn’t talked about outside of the inner circle. Being outlaws growing illegally people were hesitant on talking about what was really going on behind the locked gates. The ones who did talk about it were not so much liked by some of the other local growers who wanted to keep things more secret.
Mendo Dope started releasing “How to Grow” videos on YouTube and taking the listeners deeper into the lifestyle with songs like “One Plant One Season” and created a strong buzz throughout the community. Putting their freedom on the line by showing the world how to grow, they began making the sound track to their life.
Mendo Dopes hit song “Im From The Mtns” was an instant classic for their home town and Northern California in general. This new strain of music is growing more and more everyday and the boys have been busy recording their 3rd Season of “Live In The Garden” set to release 4/20/2019. Now that recreational Cannabis has been legalized the Mendo Boys have teamed up with Greenshock farms on their new permitted grow and location for the new ganja garden studio. Greenshock Farms is known for the creation of “Tropical Sleigh Ride” and “Purple Candy Cane” with some of the highest terpene levels. After creating their very own strain called “Its Mendo Dope” in 2017 with breeder Subcool, they were excited to sprout these seeds and grow the next ganja vocal booth for this new album. Drums, keys, guitar, bass and vocals are all written and recorded outdoors once again for this one of a kind project.
The Mendo Dope Band is on a mission to change the negative look on Cannabis and the culture that we live in by bringing positivity energy to the community these boys are rocking festivals and growing the highest grade ganja for the people. Cannabis Culture Music is all about spreading a good message and teaching people about this amazing plant. From the deep political songs like “Take It From Us” to the up beat happy vibes of “Now Im High” the Mendo Dope Band comes from all angles of the weed game and blends all genres of music together. In 2019 the Mendo Dope Band is planning on hitting the road once again and promoting their new release “Live In The Garden Season 3”. This new album features artists Izac king, Rasta Rockstar, Rocker T, Winstrong and more. Back in the garden for the 3rd season in a row is platinum producer K-Lou and special guest comedian Ngaio Bealum. Along with their brand new music Mendo Dope and Greenshock Farms are putting together a full season documentary titled “The Green Dope Project” showing you the Cannabis Culture from seed to flower set to release in 2019.
