Going on for more than seven years as a relative underground artist (in spite of his relative success on YouTube), Elro has made a name for himself as a quick-witted, scattergun rapper with attitude and a sense of humor that wouldn’t look out of place in a copy of Viz Magazine.
Last year he returned in fine form as he tackled his battle with depression, so many people may be surprised by his newest single. ‘White Rick Ross’ is a catchy, feel-good groove with a hook that gets stuck in your head and some classic Elro self-deprecating humor for you to enjoy.
In an era of self-obsessed, image-conscious rappers who think facial tattoos are a good substitute for lyrics, Elro’s ability to shift gears from serious to savage to sublime makes him well worthy of a listen. Plus, if this single does well he can move out of his mum’s house apparently.
