Winnemucca Indian Colony’s Water Canyon Dispensary Hosts Historic Cannabis Music Festival and Stop on the Annual Run-A-Mucca Motorcycle Rally Poker Run
Nevada’s heat was turned up by several performers and Indigenous musical artists during the first live cannabis event intended to build greater brand awareness of Nevada Tribal cannabis.
Winnemucca, NV (May 28-30)- Water Canyon Dispensary, owned and operated by the Winnemucca Indian Colony in consultation with Tribal Cannabis Consulting, was the site of a historic gathering of cannabis connoisseurs, music lovers and tribal leaders to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. While there are eight tribally owned and operated facilities in Nevada, few have ventured into the on-site consumption space since the Nevada Legislature passed Senate Bill 375 during the 2017 session.
Winnemucca Indian Colony Chairman Judy Rojo was on site to welcome participants and showcase brands distributed exclusively at the four dispensaries working with Tribal Cannabis Consulting, including Tsaa Nesunkwa in Ely, NV; Nabodoka in Lovelock, NV; Pesha’ Numa in Yerrington, NV and Water Canyon in Winnemucca, NV.
The stage was lit on Friday and Saturday night with performances by Jet Velocity, The Tahoe Tribe, Hellbred Records, Savelle The Native, Richie Ledreagle, Baby Baghdad, and The Sober Junkie and included a cannabis cup competition for the growers of the tribally operated farms. The winner of the cultivation award went to Nabadoka, and was based upon the yield per yard, average terpene profile, average THC per pound and the percent of failed flower per pound in 2020. The vendor of the year went to Cannvative, with Greenleaf a close second. The best new product was the Tsaa “Feels” line, an all-glass cartridge where no product interfaces with metallic substances.
The Water Canyon Dispensary partnered with the Run-A-Mucca Motorcycle Rally Poker Run and included the historic Cannabis Music Festival site as one of the many stops for the $1,000 first prize poker draw. Water Canyon staff provided an all-adult consumption lounge, with guests purchasing tribal dispensary products for on-site enjoyment. The Tribe and Water Canyon Dispensary also provided a CannaBus, for safe rides to and from the event.
THC Magazine, the nation’s first print publication dedicated to elevating Tribal Hemp & Cannabis cultures, communities and economies was also on-site providing exclusive coverage
and announcements on for the Indigenous CANNabis Coalition (ICANNC) while Clint “DJ Kronik”
Davidson provided entertainment for the free 21+ event that Tribal Cannabis Consulting Regional Manager and Pesha Numma General Manager Kendra Triplett says is the first of many events to be hosted on tribal cannabis dispensary properties.
