We’ve initiated research projects focusing on not only the clinical effects but also the quality of life for the patients during the pilot programme.
In 2018 the Danish pilot program for medical cannabis was introduced. The four year programme began with the aim to help patients that have tried numerous treatments with no effect. The programme is hoping to help this group of patients and measure the success.
The amount of patients that have been prescribed medical cannabis has exceeded the initial expected amount of 500. There are currently around 600 patients receiving the prescription and approximately 180 doctors prescribing it. This is hoped to increase as more and more research is conducted and results from clinical trials are forwarded to doctors to help them in their understanding.
The Minister of Health hopes that Danish production will be large enough to cope with the demand and also allow the export of cannabis o other countries.
