Billy currently has 19 days left on his current prescription
As many of you know Weed World and it’s readers have been following the determined story of Charlotte and Billy Caldwell. From them winning the right to have medical cannabis prescribed to Billy and their adventures on visiting parliaments to let the ministers hear their story and fight for the law to be altered.
Unfortunately their case has hit home again, when the prescription was halted by the government. Charlotte Caldwell is asking for the individual who “signed by beautiful little boys death warrant” to come forward and meet with them to find a resolution.
Billy’s doctor was summoned to a meeting with Home Office officials and told to desist writing prescriptions.
Charlotte is meeting MP’s and speaking at The Barbican London for Cannabis Europa conference on the 22nd May.
SDLP Foyle Stormont Assembly member Mark H Durkan said: “I am appalled that the Home Office have reacted so heavy-handedly to a very sensitive and high profile case.
“It has been clear from the start that Billy’s GP has issued this treatment in good faith to save a young boy’s life, not to open the floodgates to inappropriate drug use.
“Medical professionals sign a Hippocratic oath to ensure patients get the care they need, and this action by bureaucrats has undermined that oath.”
He said the SDLP will be writing to the Home Office to ask them to retract the letter sent to Dr O’Hare on the basis that a child could needlessly die.
