Making a film about a terribly-made film doesn’t sound like a particularly good idea on paper, but there is something weirdly charming about the film that inspired this semi-mockumentary-biopic. If you have never seen The Room (not to be confused with Room which is entirely different) then you are unlikely to truly appreciate the effort that has gone into making this weird and wonderful tribute, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch it in its own right. To be honest, it’s probably a good idea to watch the inspiration first, just so you get a better understanding of what inspired the Franco brothers to make something so determinedly odd. At its heart this is a feel-good comedy about two friends trying to chase their dreams and a message to all of us that you should go out and chase whatever it is that you want without worry for what others think.
