Nutrient deficiencies and excesses in cannabis growing – By Dinafem

Adequate lighting, proper ventilation, a good substrate and a balanced feeding regime are key aspects to growing great cannabis.

The last point is probably one of the hardest to deal with, as it involves assessing the needs of the plants by just looking at them, and this, however necessary for proper plant development, often takes an expert eye.

Read on to find out how to identify at a glance the main nutrient deficiencies and excesses that can affect cannabis plants.

A Lot of Bottle Skunk Fragrance

If you’re the type of individual who likes to keep a close tab on all things up and coming, you might have heard the rumors flying around the underground that some plucky people are attempting to make a perfume based on the fine aroma of our favorite plant species. A high-grade fragrance if you will. Now, I spoke to a few people who dismissed the idea as a pipe-dream and others who felt it was their chance to pull out the old soap-box and start spouting off about something before they knew all the facts – ‘why would you want to smell of weed?’, they said, ‘surely you want something to hide it, not make it more obvious!’. And maybe they had a point. I love the smell of flowering crops and freshly cured buds but there’s always that worry that you might be picked up on someone’s olfactory radar when you move into a ‘clean zone’. Nevertheless, I was intrigued by the idea.

Fairy Godmother (AKA Godfather)

Now, I remember seeing Cinderella numerous times when I was a little kid, and to my memory, the Fairy Godmother was usually a portly old woman with flimsy looking wings rather than a large nug of dank weed. However, I know that I’d rather have some South African pot looking over my shoulder on a daily basis than a middle-aged busybody who’ll probably need a piggyback at some point down the line

An opportunity in the great outdoors

Many self-sufficient growers prefer to grow their stash of recreational or medical pot indoors.  It allows a controlled environment, a wide choice of varieties and a reasonably predictable way of producing your pot but an increasing number of indoor growers are finding that growing a few outdoor plants can be just as much fun. With the right planning it can be a great way to get a top quality autumn harvest but for those that have never grown outdoors before there are a few things to consider.

The first cannabis contest of the ¨Amigos del Cannabis ¨

The first cannabis contest of the ¨Amigos del Cannabis ¨ from Chile was held outside Santiago city, I was called to help as one of the judges of the cup. I then called up my friendly expert crew which included Lupo from Pure Sativa, the great Chirri from Argentina, our good friend Porotito as well as Juan Vaz the big Uruguayan hero who has a lot of influence in the Uruguayan government. My big friend Alex ¨Gato¨, a real legend and the big expert of South America, completed a great ¨marimbero team¨, we had lots of fun which made our job a complete pleasure.
