State lawmakers could consider taking up medical cannabis concerns in the upcoming legislative session.
Anthony Brick’s happy school life was turned upside down when his school pointed out that his medication was not allowed on school grounds.
Since Anthony was diagnosed with PTSD, ADHD and undifferentiated schizophrenia, he moved in and out of hospitals with little hope of a normal life. The medication made him dopey and he didn’t interact.
Since moving to medical cannabis he is totally different. He interacts and can be around people and function properly. He learns a little easier and enjoys school.
As soon as the school stated that he could not be administered his medication while on school grounds his parents had no choice but to remove him. The option of the old Anthony and education just wasn’t one to take. His quality of life far outweighed the need to be at school.
Anthony’s mother said “I want to create change statewide,” she said. “I want all students to be able to school without being discriminated against.”
The aim is to get state legislators in New Mexico to take another look at local laws to allow changes.
