“This is the right thing to do for Missouri,”
Missouri House voted 112-44 to legalize medical marijuana this week. The measure would be for patients with long term illnesses and those suffering from conditions such as PTSD, epilepsy and to ease the pain of terminally ill.
The bill’s sponsor Rep. Jim Neely, lost his own daughter to cancer 3 years ago and has also worked as a physician in hospice care. “We want to provide this comfort to the folks here in Missouri”

While the opponents of the bill noted that it would allow treatments to bypass clinical trial processes and could lead to more recreational use, and amendments broadened the bill too much
With three weeks left in session, they are optimistic that the bill will become law.
Neely told his colleagues that if the legislature doesn’t pass medical marijuana this year, voters may view those as their only options.
“We might lose control of which direction we’re going to go in,” Neely said.
