Qrazy Train is the perfect blend of lemon lime and purple cherries, every trichome will glisten as you approach this magnificent flower
The Strain
The first time we had heard about “Qrazy Train” was from a close friend of ours who introduced us to TGA Genetics many years ago. This local farmer had been growing a variety of strains from the TGA catalog and when we saw this particular one we simply had to try it. Legendary breeder Subcool set out to create his version of “Purple Trainwreck” with this special cross using “Bloodwreck” and “Querkle”. I have always been a fan of the original Trainwreck myself but it wasn’t something I could enjoy every day, the strong terpene of the Trainwreck is unmistakable and very pungent: when smoking its almost overwhelming. Another top flavor we always enjoyed was the well-known grapes, specifically the old school “Purple Urkle” which was rare to come by and never seemed to produce much but always smoked nicely. Combining these two strains could only mean one thing: Dank! After hearing about the genetics used to create the “Qrazy Train” we instantly wanted to try it. When our friend gave us a first-hand look at some of the flowers he had grown right in Mendocino County he had us rushing to get our seeds. The extremely hot days in the Emerald Triangle call for strong genetics that can withstand the full sun and temperature changes throughout the season, with the Bloodwreck cross we knew it could handle it. Every year we look for mildew fighting genetics but we always make sure to find the hidden flavors that are created by Pheno Hunting, and this year we found “Qrazy Train”.
Strain Overview
Qrazy Train is the perfect blend of lemon lime and purple cherries, every trichome will glisten as you approach this magnificent flower. Planting our seed into its 1,000g Smart Pot we didn’t know exactly what to expect, all we knew was that it was going to be a monster. In 2013, we tested the Qrazy Train for the first time and it was performing at its peak but we were raided by the Mendocino County Sheriff and never got to see the finished flower. We were stoked to finally try it once again. Under the full sun, thriving in the Northern California climate, this Qrazy Train grew very fast and was easily trainable. With the 50/50 mix of Indica and Sativa in this cross it allowed the plant to be continuously topped and produce hundreds of bud sites with no problem after its final stretch. Varieties of this strain range from the lemon spectrum having skinny branches to the thick Querkle-dominant phenos which have an aroma of fruit candy. Sometimes buds can grow too large and tend to easily mold due to the early morning moisture or a rainy season, however this pheno carried more of the Bloodwreck and Space Queen traits which made it very mold resistant. The cherry flavor of the Space Queen shines through and enhances the crystal content bringing out a more exotic taste that is complimented by the Purple Urkle. The overall flavor of this strain is exactly what Subcool was trying to achieve, a Purple Trainwreck that leaves your taste buds covered in lemon, grape and lavender. Cages and trellis are key to achieving the maximum yield on this plant, as once the flowers begin to stack they need lots of support to keep from leaning or falling over. The outdoor flowers on this plant can easily be confused with indoor and the THC content on this plant is off the charts (it looks like every bud was sprinkled with sugar). At the end of its cycle you start to see more burgundy amber fall colors on the leaves and flowers, buds start to get very sticky and the aroma stings the nose. When you smoke the Qrazy Train it’s like popping a fresh bottle of champagne and everyone in the room will get the scent of lemons and grape fuel from the lingering cloud. Great for treating body pain and relaxation, this hybrid will have you feeling perfect after a long day. What also made this strain so special to us was we grew this specific plant into our 2016 “Ganja Plant Vocal Booth” to record our Live In The Garden Season 2 album outside. Every artist who stepped into the “Qrazy Train” was blown away by the size and quality of this strain. Topping it off we had Subcool come over to get on the mic for Season 2, laying down the classic “Cannabis Hunter” skit inside of a 10ft plant started from a seed that he had created called “Qrazy Train”.
